Middlesex hall names 2010 class

West Middlesex High School Athletic Hall of Fame has announced its induction class for 2010.

The honorees are: Elmer “Buzz” Belleville (1933, basketball), Suzanne Bowser (1995, basketball); Peter Collodi (1930-36 basketball coach); Lloyd “Lefty” Garrett (1932, basketball); Merrilynn Giles (1982, volleyball); Clyde “Mose” Hall (athletic director); John Jones (1954, basketball); Fred Mild (1955, basketball); Charles “Chub” Ruffo (1954 basketball); Jake Sagenich (1936 basketball); Philip “Tibby” Young (1927, football); Ralph “Racky” Young (1925, football) and the 1959 PIAA Class “B” state runner-up team (which lost to Kutztown, 61-54, in the title game).

Belleville, Collodi, Garrett, Hall, Jones, Ruffo, Sagenich and the Youngs are all posthumous inductees.

The annual induction banquet and ceremonies will be at 5 p.m. Sept. 24 at the WMHS cafeteria.

The WMHS Athletic Hall of Fame started in 2005 with the induction of the 1954 PIAA Class “C” state championship hoops team, which beat Mt. Joy, 74-58.

Kristy Woods of the University of Buffalo boasted a banner 2010 season for the Bulls’ track & field team. The former Grove City High standout and multiple PIAA placewinner and gold-medalist improved as the season progressed in Mid-American Conference, NCAA and ultimately, national-caliber competition.
